Happy Valentine's Day!

My wife and I were high school sweethearts. When we started dating I regarded love as merely an emotion, and that I had “lucked out” on finding such an amazing person so early in my life. 

Now, I know that love is much more than that. Love is a daily commitment. Love is an exercise and a choice I have to make everyday. Love even when I don’t feel like it. Grace given even when I don’t think it’s deserved. Patience communicated even when I feel like communicating the opposite… Extended not only to my wife, but my children, my grandchildren, my friends, my coworkers, my clients, people I pass on the street, people who cut me off in traffic, the woman who is taking way too long in line… 

Love. Grace. Patience. Care. Even when… (you fill in the blank). 

And so I extend that same sentiment to you. It might feel discouraging having so many things outside of our control right now. But what we do have control over, is how we love and care for one another. And isn’t it encouraging to stand back and see the impact that love has on humanity?
